Quick answer
The GTA 6 map is the state of Leonida. Vice City is one of six regions Rockstar has named: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park.
Rockstar has not shown a full in-game map or a map size on its own pages yet. It does sell a poster with a map of Leonida. The game comes out on 19 November 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The state of Leonida
Rockstar says GTA 6 is set in the state of Leonida. Its site describes Leonida as the home of Vice City’s neon streets and more.
Rockstar’s own pages call it the sunshine state. The Rockstar Store calls it the Goodtime State. The story of Jason and Lucia stretches across the whole state, not just one city.
All 6 regions
| Region | Official screenshots | What it looks like |
|---|---|---|
| Vice City | 12 | The big city. Game Informer reports it is the busiest and most detailed part of the map. |
| Leonida Keys | 6 | Looks like a chain of tropical islands. Expect water, boats and island roads. |
| Grassrivers | 6 | May be Leonida’s version of the Everglades. Expect wetlands and wildlife. |
| Port Gellhorn | 6 | Looks like a run-down coastal town. Expect old motels and closed attractions. |
| Ambrosia | 6 | Looks like a region of factories and farmland. |
| Mount Kalaga National Park | 6 | Looks like a wild park on the north side. Expect hunting, fishing and off-road trails. |
The screenshot counts come from Rockstar’s own GTA VI screenshots page, checked on 21 October 2026.
Vice City
Vice City is the big city of the game. Rockstar’s site calls the setting “Vice City, USA.” It is not the whole map. It is one of six regions.
Game Informer reports that Vice City was rebuilt and made bigger for today, and that it has more places you can walk into than older GTA cities. Rockstar has not shown a full map of Vice City on its own pages. Expect more once the game is out.
Is Leonida based on Florida?
Rockstar’s pages do not name a real state. Even so, Leonida may be Rockstar’s take on Florida. Fans compare Vice City to Miami, Leonida Keys to the Florida Keys and Grassrivers to the Everglades. Port Gellhorn may remind people of Florida’s Gulf coast, and Ambrosia of farm country inland.
Game Informer says its cover story shows how far Rockstar went to recreate Florida.
How big is the GTA 6 map?
Rockstar’s own pages do not give a map size. Game Informer reports that Rockstar developer Aaron Garbut called Leonida about twice the size of GTA 5’s map, with more detail and more buildings you can enter.
You may see numbers in kilometers or miles online. They come from fans measuring trailers and leaked material, and they do not match each other, so we do not list them. We expect the real size to be clear after launch.
The official map poster
Rockstar sells a collector’s box called Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection. It costs $399.99. The game is sold separately. It is for adults, age 18 and up.
The box has 11 items. One is a double-sided souvenir poster. The front shows characters from Macca the Gator, a TV show in the game’s world. Rockstar says the back shows a full view of the Leonida map, so you can plan a road trip to every corner of the Goodtime State.
This is the only official map of Leonida we found on Rockstar’s pages. Check the Rockstar Store for stock and shipping.
Is there a map in the game box?
Rockstar Support says the physical version of GTA 6 has a download code inside the box. There is no disc. The list does not include a map.
For editions and what each one includes, see our Release Date page. If Rockstar adds a map to the box, we will update this page.
Fan maps and leaked maps
Fans build maps of Leonida from trailers, screenshots and leaks. Some are very detailed. They may help you picture the state, but they are not official, and some details may be wrong. We do not use leaked material on Leocheats.
What we do not know yet
- How big the map is
- What the full in-game map looks like
- How the six regions sit next to each other
- Whether a printed map will come with the standard game
We expect all of this to be clear after launch on 19 November 2026.
FAQ
About this page
Leocheats is a guide site for GTA 6. We write in plain words and take facts from Rockstar’s own pages. When something comes from an interview or another site, we name it. When it is a guess, we say “may be” or “expect.” We update this page as Rockstar shares more, and again after launch on 19 November 2026.
