GTA 6 comes out on November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Many players want to know how many missions the game has and what the story missions will be like. This page covers what is known about GTA 6 missions so far. We will add the full mission list after launch.

No mission count for GTA 6 has been announced yet. The story follows Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos across the state of Leonida. It is split into chapters, and the missions shown so far include robberies, police chases and getaways. Some missions reportedly open only when you have enough cash. We will post the full GTA 6 missions list once the game is out.
How Many Missions Are in GTA 6?
The exact number is not known yet. No official count has been shared for main story missions or side missions.
You may see mission counts on other sites. Those are guesses. Some are based on older GTA games, and some come from leaks. We do not list them here, because they could be wrong.
What we do know is that the story mode is expected to be long. We will update this answer with the real number after November 19.
The Story So Far
Jason and Lucia are partners. Lucia and Jason Duval have always known that life is stacked against them. When an easy job goes wrong, they get pulled into a criminal plot that stretches across Leonida. To make it out alive, they have to count on each other more than ever.

GTA 6 Story Chapters
The developers have said the GTA 6 story is split into chapters. This is closer to how Red Dead Redemption 2 told its story than how GTA 5 did. Chapters help pace the campaign, so you can feel Jason and Lucia move forward as the story goes on.
The number of chapters has not been shared yet.
What Kinds of Missions Are in GTA 6?
From what has been shown so far, GTA 6 missions are built around crime. You can expect:
- Robberies of stores and other places
- Police chases with a wanted level
- Car getaways, where one partner drives and the other shoots
- Shootouts inside buildings
Missions also reportedly give you more freedom than older GTA games. You still get a suggested route, but you can often find your own way out. In one mission shown in previews, Jason and Lucia pick up Raul Bautista and then run from the police. Jason starts as the shooter while Lucia drives, and then you take the wheel for the getaway.

Money and Missions
Cash matters more in GTA 6 than in past games. Some story missions reportedly open only when Jason and Lucia have enough money. That means you may need to earn cash in free roam, for example through robberies, before the story moves on.
The exact amounts are not known yet.
Side Missions and Activities
Side missions are optional jobs outside the main story. You do not need them to finish the game, but they give you more to do in Leonida.
A full list of GTA 6 side missions has not been shared. From what has been shown, you can expect side jobs and robberies in free roam. Your partner may even point out a new job as you drive past it. Some optional goals may also change parts of the story.
